Who can Join:
Though most members have Jeeps, the Hudson Valley 4 Wheelers welcomes owners of any type of truck (sorry, no ATVs). We are a small club with a high percentage of very active members. Should you join, expect to be involved.
Joining Procedure:
Membership in the Hudson Valley 4 Wheelers must be approved by the general membership at a regular meeting.
Before being considered for membership, a prospective member must:
- Attend at least two regular monthly meetings.
- Attend at least two off-road club events.
- Agree to and comply with the Club Rules.
- Agree to the Tread Lightly approach to off-roading.
How Our Procedure Helps You:
The pre-membership attendance requirements above (items 1 and 2) allow prospective members to spend time on trails and at social gatherings with us with us. This way you can see if HV4W is what you are looking for in a club before actually paying dues.

The membership approval procedure allows us to ensure your approach to Tread Lightly and general off-roading are in keeping with the club's guidelines. We take the care and respect of trails we use very seriously and require that attitude from every one of our members.
Your Vehicle:
Some off-roaders believe more fun is had with a 'beater truck', one that is minimally maintained and barely stays together. Our vehicles are all very well maintained, leak no fluids, do not loose parts on the trail, are reliable, yet are adequately stocked with spare parts and tools should something break.
To provide maximum enjoyment of our off-road trips to our members that spend a lot of time and effort to see that their vehicles are sound, we encourage prospective members to also have well maintained vehicles if joining HV4W.
As you can see from our truck pictures, all HV4W trucks are reasonably well built up. Most all members have lockers, a winch, and 33" or larger tires. As such, the trails we tend to choose are challenging to our level of vehicle. We do not require prospective members to have this level of vehicle when joining, Owners of stock vehicles are welcome. However, it is difficult to get them through the trails we frequent without a lot of winching by us and a lot of skid plate scraping by you. New members of HV4W will enjoy our off-road trips much more with a more built up truck.
At a minimum, your vehicle should meet the following requirements:- Whatever equipment I have will be in good condition and securely fastened.
- I will have a secure Battery hold down. (To prevent fire, it will happen.)
- I will carry a full size spare tire securely fastened.
- My vehicle will be equipped with front and rear tow hooks or a suitable substitute.
- I will repair any major fluid leaks before any trail ride to prevent any unnecessary environmental contamination or fire risk.
Dues:
At the present time, the annual membership fee for the Hudson Valley 4 Wheelers is $35. This includes membership in the East Coast 4 Wheel Drive Association and membership in it's Northeast Region D.
